The V1 Veloway is a dedicated 3 metre wide cycleway that connects cyclists from Brisbane city to the Gateway Motorway off-ramp at Eight Mile Plains (along Pacific Motorway). The 17km connection provides the missing link within existing cycleway network and ensures a safe and dedicated commute for cyclists. The Veloway will also help promote an active and healthy lifestyle.
The Juliette Street bridge in Greenslopes is a 135 metre structure that spans Juliette Street. Manufacturing such a large structure and installing it without disrupting normal traffic poses a number of challenges. Steel fabricator Neumann Contractors split the structure into three 45 metre pieces. These structures were clad with 1480m2 of Metrix Tread Perf panels in the factory prior to installation saving considerable time and money on site. The oversize structures were then transported with police escort from Neumann Contractor’s yard to Juliette Street during the night to minimise traffic disruption and craned into place.
